Hi,Lindsay. My favourite celebration is the day of the "cassoles de tros" (typical meal). It is a traditional celebration in Juneda, it is celebrated since 1979, every June. So, this year is the 35th edition of this typical party of the “junedencs”.
It is a celebration but it
is also a contest, and there is a jury that the decides what “cassola
de tros” is the best.
A “cassola de tros” is a
typical dish of the peasants. It is elaborated with:
-
spinach
- potatoes
- onions
-
red and green peppers
-
aubergine
-
pork meat ( sausages, ribs…)
On the “cassola the tros”
day, in the morning we go to the canal, and light the fire and
prepare the food. We start to cook the dish, and we spend all
morning cooking, talking and laughing. When the “cassola” is
done, we take it, and we go to the countryside to eat this good
“cassola”. After eating we play the whole afternoon with my
friends. Finally everybody goes.
I have chosen this day
because I like cooking and being with my friends . This year will be
the first “cassola de tros” that I will celebrate only with my
group of friends (not my family) and I am very happy for it .
